Content Production FAQ
Common Questions
What makes PR content different from marketing content?
Marketing content is built to attract and convert your existing audience. PR content is built to earn the attention of editors, journalists, AI search platforms, and third-party validators who have no obligation to amplify your brand. The structure, tone, sourcing, and angle are fundamentally different. Content that works for your email list will not land with a Forbes editor, and content written to win AI citations reads nothing like a product description. We build for both audiences.
Can you work with content my team has already produced?
Yes, but we'll be honest about what needs to change. We regularly review existing content as part of a new engagement and identify what's usable for PR and what isn't. More often than not, the ideas are strong but the framing, sourcing, or angle needs to be rebuilt for a media or AI audience.
How do thought leadership contributions help with AI search?
AI platforms like Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Gemini surface information from trusted, authoritative sources. When your name appears as a contributor in publications those platforms recognize as credible, you become part of the evidence they cite. A byline in Forbes or an industry publication is a citation signal that tells AI systems you're a legitimate voice in your category.
What is the difference between earned media and sponsored content?
Earned media is coverage a publication chooses to run because it's newsworthy or expert-driven. No money changes hands with the publication. Sponsored content is paid placement in trusted outlets, written in an editorial style that fits the publication's audience. Both have a role in a complete content strategy. Do you produce content for regulated industries?
Yes, and this is one of the things we do that most agencies won't touch. Regulated industries require content that is strategically compelling and legally defensible at the same time. Cannabis, fintech, healthtech, and other regulated sectors have strict rules about claims, endorsements, and disclosures. We know those constraints and build content that works within them without losing the story. Our Clio-nominated regulated industry video is an example of what's possible when creative and compliance work together.
How does content production connect to thought leadership PR?
They're two sides of the same strategy. Thought leadership PR positions your executives as the go-to voice in your category. Content production is what makes that positioning visible, searchable, and durable. Without strong content, thought leadership is just an intention. Without a PR distribution strategy, strong content stays invisible. See our full Thought Leadership PR program.
